HILL is an armrest-less modular sofa. The backrest is built from separate, softly rounding cushions that rise behind the seat as individual arcs and together draw a low, undulating top line. The whole form rests close to the floor, on a low and stable base.

The seat is full: it gives softly but keeps its poise. Rounded edges and a continuous surface make sitting down immediate — you settle into the sofa with your full weight. The upholstery follows the curves of the forms closely and emphasises their softness.

As a modular sofa, HILL is free to adapt to the space. Separate parts form a straight row, a longer whole, or a looser composition, and the absence of armrests keeps the line open from every direction. The configuration lives with the space and the need.

Materials

The frame is made of plywood and softwood – materials that maintain their shape year after year. They are the invisible foundation of the sofa – the part that supports everything else. The seat’s base suspension is built with no-sag springs, which distribute weight evenly across the entire width of the sofa and maintain their tautness. The seat cushions have a layered construction, with either wadding or down as the top layer. Wadding maintains its upright shape, while down softens and adapts to the sitter – the same construction, two different feels. The back cushions are filled with either wadding or a feather-polyester chip mixture: they conform to the body and return to shape with a light fluffing. There are numerous upholstery options – from durable, easy-care fabrics to wool, linen, cotton, and leather. Each material brings its own nuance: the fabric’s structure, the movement of light on its surface, the feel under your palm. In most models, the covers are removable. The fabric gives the sofa its final character. Every Deverk sofa is made entirely in Finland, with care and built to last. Not to be replaced, but to be lived with.
